Word for worsening problems?
I want to know if there is a word for this sort of thing.
A few days ago I went to the garage to change the brake pads on my car. Easy enough. But I had called the garage about 2-2 1/2 weeks ago to fix it. Of course they couldn’t immediately tend to the problem, so I had to wait some weeks for the issue to be resolved. The problem is, I could hear the grinding of metal on metal the whole time I was using the car. I couldn’t just go without the car, I had to drive to works, appointments, see family etc. So, I think it got worse. I know for the appointment I had to get the brake pads changed and the disk (I really don’t know car stuff, i’m just repeating what I was told). I firmly believe that the problem got worse over time, which led to the disk having to be changed.
Is there a word for a problem that needs to be solved, but because you can’t fix it right away for various reasons it gets worse? I feel as though there must be, either in English, German, or whatever language.
